Especially in today’s world, we all experience stress. Along with the challenges in our personal lives, our work situations have their fair share of stress as well. According to an article published by the APA some of the most abundant cases of stress at work are low salaries, excessive workloads, lack of a challenge or social support, few opportunities for growth, and lack of control over one’s job. Here is a short but sweet list of ways you can destress your work experience.
5 Tips to Reduce Stress at Work
1. Track your stressors- keep a daily log of what triggers you so can define a trend.
2. Develop healthy tools – make sure you have some useful tools in your toolbox to help you calm yourself. Some great practices are getting physical such as with exercising and yoga.
3. Take a deep breath- This simple trick really makes a difference. When feeling overwhelmed, stop what you are doing and close your eyes. Take a deep inhale through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth.
4. Problem solving- Once you have identified your stressors, come up with a plan on how you will handle these situations irl.
5. Take care of yourself- This one should be pretty obvious. Make sure you get adequate sleep and you are eating balanced meals. I know I can become easily frustrated when tired or hungry.
